Bob McAfee is a retired software consultant who lives with his wife near Boston. He has written nine books of poetry, mostly on Love, Aging, and the Natural World. For the last several years he has hosted a Wednesday night Zoom poetry workshop.Since 2019, he has had 164 poems selected by 68 different publications. Two poems nominated for Best of the Net. age does funny things.
not long ago this body
looked fairly fit on the beach.
now some sags and bags have crept in,
some extra pounds added,
a bit of turkey neck not to mention
the ebbing hair line and a bout of muscle loss
which has turned my gluteus maximus
from convex to concave.
just the other day as i got out of the shower,
i looked in the mirror, raised my head
to minimize my turkey wattle,
sucked in my gut, and was sucker-punched
when my ass fell off.
